The nigeria rap game is dominated by great talents like Rugged Man, hardcore boss “MODE 9″, one of the greatest lyricist in africa “MI ABAGA” to mention a few.
Others are Iceprince, Sinzu (formally Saucekid), Vector and others which are currently paving the industry. So, Viralsplash.com decided to write out some artist you should watch out for. In no particular order.
We started on a bright way, These guys are just too good. This is the best rap group in nigeria no doubt. The duo of TEC and GHOST are on top of their game. They’ve worked with different artists in the industry ranging from MI to Tuface, Sinzu, May D to mention a few.
When it comes to lyrics….damn!!! these guys are tight. They are one of the best hiphop groups in Africa.
They release their debut album which has hits like Dreamer, Getting you, Farabale and others.
Don’t be surprise if you hear this guys took over the rap scene very soon.
****coughs*** baba o. Tuale for you.
Loose has been in the rap game for a while but didn’t get much attention not until MI featured him on a track on IM2.
Loose is by far one of the most versatile rap acts in Nigeria… an intelligent lyricist. Signed to MI’s Loopy Records. He’s also responsible for the hit track “Mo ti de”.
He’s one of my favorite 9ja rapper even tho he has no album, I don’t mind replying like 5 of his tracks I have on my play list. If you’re actually a rap fan, then you’ll agree with me that in no time he’s definitely going to takeover the rap scene. So watch out.
Another bad guy. Phenom also known as the knighthouse general has proven to us that he’s ready to take over. He has been around competing in freestyle battles before he caught our attention.
His feature on M.I’s ’6 foot 7 foot’ off the ‘Illegal Music II’ mixtape made him trend in Nigeria for a day.
He has been made knighthouse number one when Mo’chedah left KH.
I first love this dude when I listened to Paloma, he later released Omo naija. Shukushu Bambam is his latest track featuring label mate IYE.
Some peeps might be wondering who this guy is.
25 year old biologist turned rapper “Boogey” (David Iye Odey), Winner Underground 6 has been compared to some of the best rappers in Nigeria even without an official album out. Boogey has been featured on some of the hottest Nigerian Hip Hop projects in the last one year: Illegal Music 2 – MI (Ridiculous), Occupy the Throne – Modenine, World Domination – Terry ThaRapman, Beautiful Mind – Dj Klem to mention but a few. This guy is good. He also murdered Davido’s Dami duro track. He also released two tracks last week.
Jooooor!!!! Jagunmolu baba unstoppable. Its like Dagrin resurrected or its like the story of the movie ‘Second Chance’, maybe dagrin’s spirit entered Dharsaw’s body.
Dharsaw whose real name is OLUMIDE OLOKO hails from IJEBU ODE in OGUN STATE. He Is a young, talented and versatile rapper. Dharsaw was born on the 1st of November in the late 90s into a family consisting of two children of which he is the youngest.

52 songs in a year no be beans. No need for much stories, you already know him. Afolabi Durotoye has a world record to his name after concluding his Beazy Music Monday last year after he released 52 tracks in that year( August 2010 to August 2011 totaling up to 52). This guy is definitely going to be a successful rapper because of the hard works he has been putting into his musics. He has worked with the likes of Overdose, Ice Prince, Illbliss, Terry Tha Rapman, Dokta Frabz, Shank, 2 Shotz, Kel, Djinee. Others are Skales, Eva, Show Dem Camp, Nyore, Loose Kaynon, Cyrus Da Virus, Chykay, Five Mics and a whole lot more.
The KOS himself (King of the South). He has gained attention of a lot of people with his lyrical prowess. Erhiga Agarivbie better known as Erigga Newmoney is a rap sensation from Warri-Delta State who started recording rap songs after being inspired by rap icons like rakim, canibus , 50Cent, Jay Z, Eminem, Jarule and Nas. Deriving inspiration from the streets he has won over twenty-four (24) rap battles in Port-Harcourt, Benin and Warri and has a lot of songs in his kitty.
He ought to release his album in April, but I haven’t heard anything from him yet. All I can just say is to watch out for him.
Erigga – Suffer Dem
5Mics is one good rapper that’s yet to get the kind of buzz you’d expect for someone with his skills.
Real name Stanley .I. Ikegbulam is first of five children… Nicknamed “5mics” which was named as a status for his rap skillz also earned by known rap acts in the likes of Nas, Jay-Z etc. signed to POSH HILLS ENT a Malaysian/Nigerian based Record label. He also featured on MI’s IM2. He’s responsible for hit tracks like 5Blessing featuring Brymo and also elevating to mention a few.
Seriki omo-owo. ‘Irunmole to n je fried rice’( The irunmole that eats fried-rice). One of the best yoruba-rap lyricists. Signed to 9ice’s Alapomeji Record. He’ll release an album this year. He’s also responsible for Dissing Ruggedman on a track 9ice featured him. No doubt he’ll surely make his way to the top.
Rugged records ‘Chinedu Mark Ugonna’. He rose into fame when he dissed 9ice. ***bad joint, he nearly killed 9ice*** after he rose to fame, he dropped few singles then drops his long awaited mixtape “This is Chinaydu”. My favorite track was Mic Snatcher.
The only son and second child of Mr and Mrs I.A Ugonna. A graduate of Accounting from Anambra State University presently wrapping up an M Sc.
A list without him na wash. He was at the BET cypher last year alongside Mode9, MI, sinzu, Naeto c and iceprince. I prefer to call him next rated instead of upcoming.

being surrounded by it throughout his pre-adolescent years. By the time he graduated from secondary school, Teeto was fully immersed in Hip-Hop music and the culture, even briefly forming a now-defunct rap group called Knights Of The Turn Table.
He moved on to further his education in the University of Lagos where he became a revered battle rap legend. He eventually dropped his first mixtape to critical acclaim from audiences in and out of his university. Little did he know that this would be the prequel to his involvement in the Channel O/Sprite Emcee Africa competition in 2008, where he emerged as Nigeria’s winner.
He then proceeded to Johannesburg for the grand finale where he emerged as runner-up after squaring off with acts from Kenya, Tanzania, Angola, Ghana & South Africa. He returned home and moved on to develop himself as an artist and as fate would have it, he teamed up with Knighthouse’s Mo’Cheddah & Sauce Kid to record one of the biggest songs in 2009, “The Finest”. His first single “Oshamo” featuring Capital Hill Artist and Producer Tha Suspect had a cultural/homegrown vibe to it and was a flagrant display of the rapper’s versatility which did quite well on charts and still gets airplay on local TV and radio stations till date.
In 2010, his team (Freshboy Entertainment & Cash In Records producer/Artist Ex-O) teamed up with Soundcity Blast to release his Da Freshness mixtape which was widely accepted by fans and critics alike. Teeto also recently released another Freshboy/Knighthouse collaboration titled “Footprints (Kami)” which features the amazing Iye on vocals with production from Knighthouse in-house producer and Red Bull Music Academy alumni, DJ Klem.
Teeto & his team have been working tenaciously on his debut album which is set to drop later in 2012 and we implore you to expect nothing but the BEST…
Formerly signed to 411 entertainment, he’s now signed on Obi Asika’s storm records. Definitely, he has proven to be people’s favorite. From, his remix of the Oleku beat to his collaboration with wizkid, Naeto c and lots more. He recently featured on Mi’s IM2.
